Description:

This oval molded and pierced pearlware stand is line engraved and printed in blue in an early form of Spode's Two Figures II pattern.  It likely served as the stand for a chestnut or fruit basket.  It is a very early example of Spode's blue printed pearlware in this pattern.  This same piece is illustrated in Copeland, Robert. Spode Willow Pattern and Other Designs after the Chinese, page 68, plate 6.  It is from the collection of William Taylor Copeland.
