Maker: Unknown Description: A reticulated earthenware basket stand printed in blue in the Chalees Satoon pattern. This commonly used name for this pattern is derived from one of the four source prints which contributed elements to the pattern. Three are shown below. The fourth, View of Mutura, on the River Jumna, is the source for the mosque in the middle distance. Whilst possible attributions of this pattern have been made to the Cambrian Pottery, Swansea and to Mayer & Newbold, these attributions are based upon shapes and cannot be fully substantiated without the presence of factory marks. |
