Maker: John Ridgway Maker's Mark: Description: A large porcelain coffee pot printed in black and yellow with overglaze painting of the flowers with pink and yellow. This piece is attributed to John Ridgway, Cauldon Place Works at Shelton (Hanley) based on the pattern number 2/3232 painted on the piece. It was probably part of a tea and coffee service. According to Geoffrey Godden, Ridgway used a numbering system of 2/1-9999 for tea services. Reference Godden, British Porcelain, an Illustrated Guide, p. 365. |
