Description:

An earthenware covered tureen base with molded handles. The pattern on this dish is one of many variations of a popular series named Muleteer.  All of the patterns in this series include a man and a mule in a Romantic Italianate landscape. At least 12 pattern versions are known.  Multicolored versions were printed up to 1840 using green, blue and black outlines with dark shading.  The pattern was also printed in several single colors. The series was also printed on toilet and personal hygiene wares.
