Description:

A scalloped earthenware dessert plate, printed underglaze in three colors - blue, green and black - with a Romantic landscape.  It is one of 14 known views used in a series that is known as Rhenish Views.  This example is recorded in the TCC Pattern and Source Print Database as Rhenish Views #05 Variation.  Davenport’s color printing technique is attributed to Jesse Austin; reference Lockett, Terrence A., Godden, Geoffrey A., Davenport China Earthenware and Glass, London: Barrie & Jenkins, 1989, page 172, para.1.
