  • Length: 3.74 in (9.50 cm)

Description:

This is a very rare example of overglaze printing on Caughley porcelain.  Three different patterns were utilised but only four pieces so decorated are recorded.

Some of the leaves in this print have been trimmed, so as to make the print fit the small surface available on the Chelsea cream ewer.  This was the contemporary name for this shape of cream ewer, which was popular at many 18th century English porcelain factories but, paradoxically, not at Chelsea.
