In this example, the male lion on the left was copied from the frontispiece of A Cabinet Of Quadrupeds by John Church, 1805, and the female lion and her cubs on the right were probably copied from History of the Earth and Animated Nature by Oliver Goldsmith, 1811 edition. The pattern also found in The Naturalist's Library by William Jardine, ca. 1833. |
