Printing in a single color on earthenware and stoneware 1820-1850  Pattern Source Source Description: Surseya Ghaut, Khanpore opposite page 161 of Charles Ramus Forrest's A Picturesque Tour along the Rivers Ganges and Jumna in India, published in 1824 by Rudolf Ackermann, London. Ghaut is another word for ghat, a landing place on a body of water, in this case the Ganges River. The size of the print is 11 x 7.25 inches. |

The border has two pairs of Indian scenes, each in a cartouche of scrolls, grapes and vine leaves. The source print, also illustrated, was used by at least four other makers. |
