Description:

An earthenware soup plate printed in blue with the named view Wardour Castle, Wiltshire.  This version includes a tree placed prominently in the foreground of the landscape.  A second version, also included in this exhibit, was produced on a 10 inch plate without the tree. This scene was also printed . Printed title mark and impressed maker’s mark. The source print for this pattern is from John Preston Neale’s Views of the Seats of Noblemen and Gentlemen in England and Wales, Scotland and Ireland (shown below).
