Description:

Tin-glazed earthenware (so-called delftware) tile printed in black in Liverpool with "Miss Younge in the character of Zara" in Congreve's play The Mourning Bride (Anthony Ray, Liverpool Printed Tiles, 1994, F1-36).

Many of Guy Green's theatrical tiles, like this one, copy later sources than that used for Richard Abbey's theatrical tiles. It therefore seems likely that Abbey was first in using theatrical subjects and that Green copied his idea.
