Maker: Minton & Co. Description: Dust-pressed earthenware tiles, printed and hand-colored in pinkish red, depicting scenes of household tasks, under titles of the days of the week. This tile depicts "MONDAY". Designed by Elizabeth Ellen Houghton (1853 - 1922) an illustrator and painter. Her illustrations can be seen along with those of her cousin Thomas Crane (brother of the designer Walter Crane) in 'London Town' a childrens' poetry book written by Felix Leigh in 1883.
