Maker: Don Pottery Description: A toy teapot printed in black and painted underglaze. On one side is a boy feeding lambs and on the opposite side is a lion emerging from a cave. The lid is printed with a pattern consisting of a hen brooding chicks with flowers and a cottage (see below for the other examples). A fish bone design is painted in black on the spout and handle. The item is not marked but the pattern and shape are documented by John Griffin in The Don Pottery 1801-1893, p. 126. Width from spout to handle is 5.75 inches The lid is 2 inches wide. |
