|
Shape Type: Miscellaneous Pattern Type: Plants Date: 1756-1758 Dimensions:
Maker: Vauxhall Description: A Vauxhall trumpet shaped vase tapering to a diameter of 4.5cm, decorated with European flowers and insects. "Polychrome printed" in a technique peculiar to the factory. It involved the overglaze printing of two or more colors in outline, most often brown, pink or sepia, which were then filled in with hand-painted coloring. For more information see English Ceramic Circle publication, Ceramics of Vauxhall 2007. The specific print sources are unknown but the flowers and insects are similar to those found in The Ladies' Amusement. |
