Clarke & Cope (Makers)

markIn March 1844 the partnership dissolution of Joseph Alexander Clarke and Edward Keys, China Manufacturers of Longton, was announced.  Clarke was to carry on by himself but may have needed capital so another partner was admitted to the business. Edward Cope joined the small china making firm in Russell Street Longton about 1845 but must not have stayed very long as by December 1847 Clarke was in bankruptcy proceedings and there is no mention of a partner.  To see the rare, perhaps unique, marked piece of Clarke & Cope in this exhibit, click here.
