Napirima was a large cocoa bean growing area, with Port of Spain being the main port. Joseph Fry began producing chocolate in 1759. By 1835, the company was named J.S. Fry & Sons. In 1847, the Fry's chocolate factory, located in Union Street, Bristol, England, molded the first ever chocolate bar suitable for widespread consumption. By 1919 the company merged with Cadbury's Chocolate.
