Description:

An earthenware pot lid multiple-plate multicolor printed and titled "On Guard".  Although unmarked, it is attributed to F. & R. Pratt & Co. This pattern was first produced around 1860 and was used over a very long period. There are two versions - this one, with the dog under the bench, and an earlier version with a bucket in the same spot.
