Description:

This coffee cup belongs to a small group of porcelain made in Staffordshire about 1777-84, to which Geoffrey Godden has given the name Baddeley-Littler.  It is believed that these wares were made by William Littler after he returned to Staffordshire from West Pans, when he may have been employed by a member of the Baddeley family to make porcelain.

Blue printed examples of this group are particularly rare.  Only about half a dozen are known.  This cup is printed with the Bell Toy, a pattern that was also used at Caughley.
