Description:

This Worcester mug bears a print of George III between subsidiary prints of Britannia and Fame.  Above the king's head is a cherub bearing a crown.  Overglaze prints of the King and Queen were produced for their coronation in 1760.  Later the copper plates were adapted for printing in underglaze blue by some fine detail being polished out and the main outlines being more deeply cut.  Printed titles were also added below the portraits.
