Description:

A circular earthenware advertising plate.  The border is printed with the border used for the Standard Willow pattern. A portrait of Albert Smith is printed underglaze in brown in the center.  Robert Copeland noted that the rare mark printed in brown on the back occurs on a white earthenware plate depicting a portrait of Albert Smith who offered entertainments in The Egyptian Hall, Picadilly, London, from 1852-1858.  Copeland also noted that the mark includes the location of Copeland's showroom and shop at 160 New Bond Street established a decade earlier.
