Description:

A rectangular indented pearlware platter printed with the Conversation pattern.  The small impressed horn-like symbol on the back is probably a presser's mark.  This version of the Conversation pattern is decorated with the border pattern commonly found on the Full Nankin pattern, examples of which are marked by Thomas Wolfe. It is an early example of line engraving in which the lines engraved into the copper plate were deeper causing more ink to be transferred to the biscuit which, in turn, resulted in a darker blue print.
