Shape Type: Miscellaneous Pattern Type: Literature, Classical, Mythology, and the Arts Date: 1892-1906 Maker: Alfred Meakin Maker's Mark: Description: Earthenware tile, printed in blue possibly depicting Venus and Cupid in classical ruined landscape. Marked on the reverse A. M. Ltd. Illustrations of a similar backs in The Decorated Tile by J&B Austerwick (pp.136-7) suggests the tile may be by Alfred Meakin who were known tile makers from the 1890s into the 20th century.
