A West VIEW of the IRON BRIDGE over the WEAR under the patronage of R. BURDON Esq MP.,  Span 230 feet ht 100, Cast 214 Tons Wt 46". At the bottom center of the print is the inscription "DIXON & CO, Sunderland 1813". Below the lip, a verse surmounted by a sailing cutter: "I envy no ones birth or fame/Their title, train or dress/Nor has my pride ever stretch'd its aim/Beyond what I possess/I ask not, wish not to appear/More beauteous, rich or gay,/Lord make me wiser every year/And better every day". (Charles Lamb 'A birthday thought')  On the reverse is a portrait of Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson (1758-1805) with red ensigns and trophies behind and surmounted by Fame, with ships in the background. "TRAFALGA" is inscribed above the portrait. "The Briton mourn (sic) what else can Britons do/While Bleeding Nelson rises to her view./Still is there cause for Triumph when she shews/The captured colours of our Vanquished foes./And greater still when FAME was heard to say/All all were Nelsons on that glorious DAY."
