Much remains to be learned about this highly sought-after series of patterns featuring naval and merchant vessels printed in an attractive medium found on dinner and dessert wares. Each scene is framed with a border consisting of a variety of seaweed shapes and shells. A meat platter in this series printed with the pattern named Night Sea Battle was inspired by a print by the artist J. Jenkins, published in The Navel Achievements of Great Britain in 1817. The date of this print is used as a possible date in which the pattern could have commenced production. An early attempt to attribute this series to Rogers has not been proven, thus the maker remains unknown. Other print sources for the designs in this series have not yet been documented.
