Engraver / Plate Maker: Unknown This print appears in Marshall's Select Views in Great Britain. Doveridge Hall was built by Sir Henry Cavendish in 1769 and commanded superb views across the River. In 1792 the Cavendish family became Lords, and the Hall was used by the family until 1894; with their revenue from Ireland being seriously reduced, they decided to rent the Hall out as a way of obtaining a more substantial income.

This earthenware vegetable dish has what is referred to as a combed back,consisting of ridges on the underside of the piece. The more common name used for this series is America and Independence, due to those words appearing on the plate. David and Linda Arman numbered the views in this series from 2 to 15 (the number 1 pertaining to another series) and this view is No.13. The central pattern on this example is taken from the source print shown below. Prior to discovery of the source prints that Clews used for these patterns, researchers David and Linda Arman endeavored to provide descriptive names for them. The Armans named this scene Building, Two Wings, Water in Foreground
