Source Description:
The source print, Mastiff & Lion Dog, is from A Cabinet of Quadrupeds by John Church, 1805. The artist is Julius Caesar Ibbetson (1759-1817) and the engraver is James Tookey (1795-1805). Notice that only the mastiff was used on the pottery.Shape Type

Description:
An earthenware plate printed in blue with the Mastiff pattern. The animals in the cartouches are clockwise from the top: horses, possibly a water vole, a squirrel, and sheep. Except for the center pattern, the source prints have not yet been identified.BACK TO CATALOG INDEX
