Source Description:

The source print for the Lion pattern is from the frontispiece of A Cabinet Of Quadrupeds, Vol. II by John Church, 1805.  The artist is Julius Caesar Ibbetson (1759-1817) and the engraver is James Tookey (1795-1805).

Description:

An earthenware plate printed in blue with the Lion pattern.  The animals in the cartouches are clockwise from the top: recumbent deer, Zebra, goats, and horses.  The only identified source print for the border cartouches so far is Zebra from A Cabinet of Quadrupeds by John Church, 1805.  The Lion pattern is also found on a 12.5 inch beaded rim bowl.  A  smaller 10.62...
