Source Description:

The source print for the center pattern is from The General History of Quadrupeds by Thomas Bewick, 1790.  The wood block engraving is also by Thomas Bewick.

The source print for the top cartouche is from The General History of Quadrupeds by Thomas Bewick, 1791. The wood block engraving is also by Thomas Bewick.  The reference at the bottom of the source print is to Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon, an 18th century French naturalist.

 

The soup tureen ladle is also printed in The Running Dog or English Setter pattern.

Description:
