Source Description:

The source print is from A Cabinet Of Quadrupeds by John Church, 1805.  The artist is Julius Caesar Ibbetson and the engraver is James Tookey.

Additional Image:

The Pointer pattern is also found on a 12.62 inch by 9 inch chestnut basket under tray.  Observe that the cross hatching and the tops of the cartouches have been replaced by the circular piercing at the edge of the tray.

Description:

An earthenware platter printed in blue with the Pointer or Hunter And Dog pattern.  The border cartouches clockwise from the top feature cows, goats, an ocelot and a dog retrieving a duck. The source prints have not yet been identified.  There is a band of crosshatching or diamonds surrounding the cartouches in the border.
