The guglet is a long-necked vessel used to store water or wine before it is served.  The name is of Anglo-Indian origin, but is also thought be descriptive of the sound liquid makes when it is poured.

A pearlware dated guglet printed in blue with the Padoda and Palms pattern.  The rim is enameled in deep rust red and the same color was used to paint overglaze the initials "MJ".  The date of "1806" is painted on the bottom of the piece.
