Source Description:

A Chinese Export Porcelain Saucer

The hand painted pattern on this Chinese export porcelain saucer was used as a basis for the Two Figures II pattern, copied by many potters with variation in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

Description:

An early baluster shaped pearlware coffee pot printed in a line engraved version of the Two Figures II pattern with a geometric border pattern. The central pattern was taken from an original Chinese export porcelain design, an example of which is shown below. Two Figures II was made by Cambrian, Spode, Leeds Pottery and other potters, usually on unmarked wares.
