A pearlware jug printed in brown and colored in underglaze in the Chinese Raft pattern with a faint blue wash on the very edge of the rim. Description:
A pearlware jug printed in brown and colored in underglaze in the Chinese Raft pattern with a faint blue wash on the very edge of the rim. A possible attribution to Herculaneum was made of a similar pattern due to the shape of a coffee pot, c.1810. The prominent feature is a boy on a raft. The border incorporates selected scenes from the central pattern and is framed with a line and fish eye pattern. This same border pattern is printed on the interior of the jug and is also printed below the central pattern near the base of the jug. Two other perspectives of the jug are shown below.
