Source Description:

Death of the Bear by Samuel Howitt is plate 29 of Oriental Field Sports by Thomas Williamson, London, 1807.  The aquatint is 17 x 12 inches and was engraved by Henri Merke.  Animals in the border are from the same book.

Sauce tureen base printed with The Dead Hog pattern, surmounted by its lid printed with a composite scene.

Description:

An earthenware sauce tureen lid printed in blue.  Pattern number 904-10; reference Drakard, David and Holdway, Paul. Spode Transfer Printed Ware, 1784-1833.
