Source Description:

The source print for the center, Newfoundland Dog, is from A Cabinet Of Quadrupeds by John Church, 1805. The artist is Julius Caesar Ibbetson (1759-1817) and the engraver is James Tookey (1795-1805). 

Additional Image:

The outside of the compote was printed with a pattern consisting of stylized leaves and flowers against a diamond or crosshatch background.

Description:

An earthenware footed compote printed in blue with the Newfoundland Dog pattern.  The animals in the border cartouches are clockwise from the top: possibly a wild cat, the Many Horned Sheep, the Ram (both from A Cabinet Of Quadrupeds by John Church, 1805), and possibly a wild boar.
