A large earthenware platter in this series. The more common name used for the series is America and Independence, due to those words appearing on the plate. In the Arman's numbering system, this is No.4. The central pattern on this example is taken from the source print shown below.   Prior to discovery of the source prints that Clews used for these patterns, researchers David and Linda Arman endeavored to provide descriptive names for them.  The Armans named this scene Dock, with Large Building and Ship. But now we know its location from the source print.
