Shape Type: Dinner & Dessert Wares Pattern Type: Chinese, Asian and Other Exotic Themes Date: c. 1785-1787 Maker: John Turner Description: An earthenware octagonal platter printed in blue with the earliest version of Turner's Willow pattern. Impressed Turner mark. The size is unknown. About this pattern, in his History of the Staffoirdshire Potteries' Simeon Shaw wrote, "The pattern Mr Turner used was the willow, designed by him from two oriental Plates, still preserved, and exhibited to the Author by Mr W. Turner."
