Copied from a Chinese export porcelain design commonly found on Nankin porcelains, it was one of the earliest printed designs produced on porcelain at Caughley.  The pattern was used mainly on tea services by this maker. The design was produced by many factories, both in porcelain and in pottery, and was frequently referred to as Broseley, which was the name of a town near the Caughley factory.
