Description:
This coffee cup, tea bowl and saucer are in hybrid-hard-paste porcelain and were made at the New Hall factory. The pieces are printed in Chinoserie style with a pattern known as Chinese Children. They have brown rims, perhaps an effort to make them appear even more like Chinese porcelain. The saucer, which is 5.25 inches in diameter, shows a Chinese child kneeling on the ground and holding a teapot in one hand, while offering a beaker of tea to a Chinese figure standing by a vase placed on a pedestal, which is inscribed with pseudo-Chinese characters. The coffee cup and saucer show two Chinese children conversing, one seated and the other kneeling on the ground.
