Print La Terre from a set of the Four elements, an etching by by Pierre Aveline, after a drawing by François Boucher, published by Gabriel Huquier, 1738-1749.Additional Image:
The other side of the mug shows another chinoiserie scene representing Le Feu (Fire). A stall holder pours a cup of tea for a seated archer with a quiver of arrows on his back. The stall has a number of utensils suspended from a frame. It is printed in black with over-colouring. This design is also found on Worcester porcelain. This bell shaped Bow mug is printed in black with two chinoiserie designs representing the Elements. One side, depicting La Terre (Earth), shows a Chinese woman standing in a garden setting, leaning her left arm on an urn. On the ground to the right is an Chinese man offering her a potted plant.
