Earthenware jug printed underglaze in brownish black with "Britannia's Triumph at the Restoration of Peace". She carries medallions labelled "George III" and "'Bonaparte" and commemorates the Peace of Amiens in March 1802, a one-year interval in the Napoleonic Wars.Underglaze black and brown were evidently generally available for printing by this date.BACK TO CATALOG INDEX
